WAYNE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A Spring Valley High school student has been charged in connection with the assault of another student at the school, the Wayne County Sheriff's Department says.

The student is charged with assault, battery and conspiracy.

Two other juveniles have been charged in conspiracy with the case.

The incident happened about 8:45 p.m. Thursday at the school. Video evidence shows "a student abusing another student who did not defend himself."

Deputies were in touch with the Wayne County Schools officials and the prosecutor's office.

They also contacted the victim's guardian, who said the victim had been seen by medical personnel.

The suspect has been suspended pending the investigation.

Sheriff Rick Thompson and an investigator met Friday morning with school officials.

They later went to the victim's home and interviewed that victim. Several witnesses have been interviewed, as well.
