HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Plans for a park and ride and visitors center at the Ceredo-Kenova exit of Interstate 64 are moving forward.

Huntington City Council on Monday unanimously approved a resolution supporting the project.

Officials say the park and ride lot will save commuters time and money, improve air quality and conserve non-renewable energy resources. They say a visitors center would showcase local and regional activities -- generating more spending in the area.

"I believe there are ten million plus cars that travel along Interstate 64 in a year," Councilman Mark Bates said. "If we can just capitalize on just a small portion of that, then that helps our economy."
