Lock Down in Huntington; Police Block Streets After Threat of Man with Gun Called In
Posted August 5th, 2013 @ 6:05pm by Ryan Zipperian

HUNTINGTON, WV - Huntington Police have blocked off several city blocks around the intersection of 10th Avenue and 12th Street.  No information has been released from the HPD regarding the surrounding of a home in Huntington's Fairfield area.

SWAT team members are on the scenes after an earlier, afternoon phone call reported shots fired in the area.  No reports of any injuries at this time.

Police, using PA systems, were heard at the scene asking the suspect (whom the police referred to as "Mike") to announce his presence in the home and to signal no one was hurt.

According to a resident, the home police responded to had been known for several suspicious activities.

At this time, there is no word on if the suspect is still inside the home, nor what set off the chain of events which lead officers to lockdown an entire neighborhood.

More as it develops.
