PORTSMOUTH Ohio (WSAZ) – Two women busted for more than $200,000 worth of illegal drugs during a traffic stop have been sentenced to 20 years in prison.
Ashley Johnson, 24, and Khadeja Avery, 26, both of the Detroit area, pleaded guilty to drug trafficking charges during a hearing in Scioto County Common Pleas Court Wednesday.
Following the pleas, the women were sentenced to the mandatory prison term without the possibility of early release or parole.
Johnson and Avery were arrested by the Ohio State Highway Patrol back on December 4 along U.S. 23 in Lucasville.
During a search, troopers say they found half a kilogram of heroin, 4,500 Oxycodone pills and 270 Oxymorphone pills hidden in a duffel bag.
Prosecutors say the drugs were bound for Huntington and in part Marshall University.
