Man accused of shooting state trooper taken into custody

LINCOLN COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- West Virginia State Police have released the name of both the suspect and the troopers that was shot during the response to a domestic situation.

Troopers say Jeremiah Yeager is the suspect and he will be charged with attempted murder of a police officer. Other charges could be pending in Lincoln County.

Cpl. David Fry is the state trooper who was shot in the incident.

According to W.Va. State Police, Cpl. Fry was shot in the shoulder, hand and leg.

Yeager tried to hide a hand gun and got into a struggle with troopers when they arrested him.

Yeager was taken to the hospital for treatment.

State Police say Cpl. Fry was taken to a local hospital after being shot and underwent surgery Tuesday morning. His injuries are not considered to be life threatening.
