Huntington High teacher has contract terminated for controversial tweets

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A Huntington High teacher has had her contract terminated by the Cabell County Board of Education.

According to the Cabell County Schools, Mary Durstein had her contract terminated effective immediately for controversial comments made on social media.

Durstein was asked to leave school in January after Cabell County school officials took complaints of her tweeting what could be considered racially offensive statements.

On a photo post that called President Obama a Muslim (expletive deleted), Durstein commented "Exactly!"

Another tweet reads "Who cares if we offend Muslims ... At least they keep their heads on tact. They're the enemy!"
