RUSSELL, Ky. (WSAZ) -- A former Russell Middle School aide and coach has been arrested on child porn charges.
Donald Adkins, 48, of Ashland, is charged with possession of matter portraying a sexual performance of a minor.
Russell Independent Schools Superintendent Sean Horne says Adkins has been terminated from his position. Horne says he served as an instructional aide for special education at Russell Middle School.
Horne says Adkins was also a coach for the middle school boys basketball and baseball teams.
"In light of the investigation, the District suspended this employee and subsequently moved to terminate employment with the District," Horne said in a release. "The safety and security of all of our students is the highest priority of the Russell Independent School District."
Ashland police and Flatwoods police are investigating the case.
