Jenkins to Challenge Manchin for U.S. Senate Seat

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Rep. Evan Jenkins has announced he will run against Joe Manchin for the United States Senate in 2018.

Jenkins made the announcement in a campaign video posted to his YouTube page.

He won his seat to the House of Representatives by defeating Nick Rahall in 2014.

According to a release, Jenkins says he's worked with President Donald Trump on issues like coal, the economy and the state's opioid epidemic.

In 2013, Jenkins switched from the Democratic Party to the Republican Party.
