CABELL COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- An investigation is underway after three inmates overdosed Wednesday night at Western Regional Jail.
According to the Director of Communications for the West Virginia Department of Military Affairs and Public Safety Lawrence Messina, all three have recovered and are back in jail.
Messina tells WSAZ the inmates who overdosed were not recently booked and were in the same section of the jail.
Jail officials believe drugs were somehow brought into the jail. They are looking into how that was able to happen.
Messina says the jail had an incident in April where five women inmates overdoses at the jail. All five were able to recover.
"Narcan is saving lives in our facilities," Messina said.
