One person is dead following a crash in the eastbound lanes of I-64 at the 8 mile marker.
The accident happened this morning sometime before 6 a.m. and has all eastbound lanes closed at the 5th Street interchange.
Drivers are being diverted off the 5th Street Exit and can reenter I-64 eastbound on the other side of the accident.
Two vehicles were involved and at least one victim was ejected. One of the vehicles was ripped in half.
Officials are not releasing the name of the person who died and there is no timetable for when the eastbound lanes of I-64 will reopen.
