Missouri Man Threatened to Shoot 'Every Gay Person I Can', Police Say

Overland man threatens to 'kill every gay person I can' at St. Louis PrideFest, charges say

Police in Missouri have arrested a man they say emailed a threat to an organization planning St. Louis' Pride parade, saying he would try and kill as many gay people as possible at the event next week.

Edward Terry, 49, of Overland, was charged by authorities on Tuesday with making a terrorist threat, according to court documents obtained by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Terry allegedly sent an email to one of PrideSTL's parade planners writing that he intended to "come to pride fest with my guns to kill every gay person I can before I kill myself."

The FBI was alerted to the email by the manager of PrideSTL and investigators were able to trace the email back to Terry's cellphone. Police say Terry told them that he created the account using the name of a woman he used to live with.

Mark Zuniga, the vice president of PrideFest, told USA Today that the organization works hard to "produce an event that is safe for all participants." The annual event held in downtown St. Louis is attended by hundreds of thousands of people every year. PrideFest is scheduled for June 29 and 30.

Terry was arrested and charged on Tuesday, with his cash-only bail set at $20,000. He's also facing another theft charge in Creve Coeur, court records show.
