A 25-year-old California woman was killed when a rock was thrown through the windshield of her car. Sarina Rodriguez was driving with her boyfriend, Franco Martinez, through the Antelope Valley just after midnight on Tuesday (October 8) when she lost control after being hit by a rock.

Martinez tried to grab the wheel and gain control of the car but could not prevent it from crashing.

"When it went through the windshield, it collapsed her airway. Whole frontal, unrecognizable. Fatal on site," Martinez told KTTV.

Officers searched the area but did not find any suspects.

Authorities said it was the third incident in recent days. On Sunday, authorities received two reports of rocks being thrown at cars. In the first incident, police reported serious injuries, including broken bones, while the victim in the second incident suffered minor abrasions, ABC News reported.

"We urge anyone who has information pertaining to these incidents to contact the California Highway Patrol 24 hours a day and 7 days a week at (323) 259-3200," California Highway Patrol said. "The public's cooperation is crucial to help bring the perpetrator(s) of this heinous act to justice and prevent further tragedies. The California Highway Patrol is committed to ensuring public safety and will continue to investigate all incidents thoroughly."
