Antoine Massey, a fugitive who escaped from the Orleans Justice Center in New Orleans on May 16, has taunted police with an Instagram video while on the run. Massey, along with nine other inmates, broke out of the jail through a hole left by a removed toilet and sink unit. Eight of the escapees have been recaptured, but Massey and Derrick Groves remain at large.
In the video posted to Instagram under the handle @_007chucky, Massey claims he was "let out" of jail and maintains his innocence regarding the charges against him. He accuses the authorities of corruption and pleads for help from public figures, including President Donald Trump and rappers Lil Wayne and NBA YoungBoy. Massey, 32, faces charges in two parishes, including theft of a motor vehicle, domestic abuse involving strangulation, kidnapping, and rape.
Massey disputes the claim that he threatened a prison maintenance worker, Sterling Williams, to facilitate the escape. Williams allegedly shut off the water to the cell, allowing the inmates to flee. Williams has been arrested and charged with being a principal to simple escape and malfeasance in office.
The Orleans Justice Center has urged Massey to turn himself in, emphasizing that cooperating with law enforcement is in his best interest. Authorities have offered a $50,000 reward for information leading to the capture of Massey or Groves. The manhunt for the remaining fugitives continues, with investigators reviewing the Instagram video as part of their ongoing efforts to apprehend the escapees.
