Doctor Ronny Jackson Withdraws As Nominee To Head Veterans Affairs

Navy Rear Admiral Ronny Jackson is pulling out of the nomination to lead the Department of Veterans Affairs amid workplace misconduct allegations. President Donald Trump says he saw it coming. The President told Fox & Friends that Jackson "would have done a great job," and that the accusations being levied against him are false.

"These are false accusations, they are trying to destroy a man."

Jackson faced a storm of criticism, from his lack of management experience to more recent allegations he handed out prescription drugs like candy and was frequently drunk on the job.

Jackson called the allegations "baseless and anonymous attacks" on his character and integrity.

"The allegations against me are completely false and fabricated. If they had any merit, I would not have been selected, promoted and entrusted to serve in such a sensitive and important role as physician to three presidents over the past 12 years."

He said he decided to withdraw as the nominee because he did not want to be a distraction to President Trump.

Unfortunately, because of how Washington works, these false allegations have become a distraction for this President and the important issue we must be addressing – how we give the best care to our nation's heroes.
