Chess Robot Grabs And Breaks Finger Of Seven-Year-Old Opponent

One of the 30 best chess players in the “Under 9” category in Russia had his finger broken by a robot he was playing against, according to Russian media reports. The seven-year-old boy reportedly tried to make a move too quickly after the robot had made its own move, and the robot grabbed the boy’s finger and broke it.

Sergey Lazarev, president of the Moscow Chess Federation, says the boy “made a move, and after that, we need to give time for the robot to answer, but the boy hurried, and the robot grabbed him.” A representative of the company that makes the robot says the incident was “a coincidence” and the robot is “absolutely safe.”
